From what I can tell, System76 Lemur (lemu7) is a Clevo N240-series laptop.  These are whitebox wholesale Chinese-built laptops.

That same laptop is also sold by a variety of other vendors, the more notable are Sager NP3245, and ZaReason UltraLap 5330.

Despite what you may think, I actually like this.  I don’t see it as a cheap Chinese knock-off, just the opposite - these would have been carefully engineered and designed in order to prevent warranty repairs.  Further, it allows System76 to specialize on the Linux side without having to worry about actually architecting a laptop from scratch.
